I am sad to say that I didn't love this as much as I wanted to; though I never read any Sweet Valley as a kid, when I was in my 20s I collected as many of the different Sweet Valley series as I could, and Twins was my favourite of the lot。 (Probably because of the similarity in tone to the Baby-sitters Club, let's be honest。) I think, because of that, I was expecting this graphic novel adaptation to be like the the BSC graphic novels, so I had the bar set way too high。 Not that this was bad, I j I am sad to say that I didn't love this as much as I wanted to; though I never read any Sweet Valley as a kid, when I was in my 20s I collected as many of the different Sweet Valley series as I could, and Twins was my favourite of the lot。 (Probably because of the similarity in tone to the Baby-sitters Club, let's be honest。) I think, because of that, I was expecting this graphic novel adaptation to be like the the BSC graphic novels, so I had the bar set way too high。 Not that this was bad, I just thought it would be ~more。The art was okay。 There were times where it was hard to tell Jessica and Elizabeth apart, and I guess that's part of the whole story, but it made reading it a little awkward at times。 And again, I was hyping this up to the BSC, so I wanted it a little more cartoony or something, maybe more detail in the backgrounds and colours。 I don't know。 And the story was good (it's been more than a decade since the one time I've read the source material) but I felt like things were a little choppy。 The dialogue felt a little stilted or something。Even though it didn't live up to the way-too-high expectations I had set for it, I am looking forward to reading more of this series, and I really do hope that it finds its groove。 。。。more

A lovely retake on a book series I loved as a kid! It's been a lot of fun to see many of the series from my childhood get graphic novels (babysitter's club, Babysitter's little sister, bailey school kids) so this also brings a warm smile to my face。It captures the emotions of being a preteen and the concern over changes growing apart。 Can't wait to see what comes next in the series! Perfect for a 10-year-old girl, great for nostalgia, probably not actually that good, but I enjoyed the graphic novel aspect。

Wow what nostalgia。 The I ages and memories collided and moved seamlessly into each other allowing one to reenjoy a book as though for the first time! Much fun!

So sweet。 I always wished I had a twin to dress up w/。 poor lois

Fun trip down memory lane as I used to read Sweet Valley High。 Join Jessica and Elizabeth as they discover even though they are identical twins, they are not identical。

Nostalgia for mothers who read the books as tweens? I'm sure these would be very popular with young readers who like graphic novels, but this was not my favorite。 I'd rather invest in more current graphic novels like Lloyd's Allergic。 。。。more

The Sweet Valley Twins, Liz and Jess, do everything together。 They dress alike, have the same friends, have the same interests and are each other’s best friend。 Now that they’re entering middle school, things are changing。 Now, twin Jess wants to be part of the Unicorns (an exclusive and snotty girls group) and she doesn’t want to always be the same as Liz。 As Jess becomes a Unicorn, the girls struggle with who they are and how they can become independent and still be each other’s “person” but i The Sweet Valley Twins, Liz and Jess, do everything together。 They dress alike, have the same friends, have the same interests and are each other’s best friend。 Now that they’re entering middle school, things are changing。 Now, twin Jess wants to be part of the Unicorns (an exclusive and snotty girls group) and she doesn’t want to always be the same as Liz。 As Jess becomes a Unicorn, the girls struggle with who they are and how they can become independent and still be each other’s “person” but in typical sweet Sweet Valley Twins fashion, they find a way。 。。。more

I can definitely relate to this book on some level。 It is a good book because it shows people that twins don’t have to be alike。 They can be different。 I would definitely read it again and recommend it。

This was cute。 Art style was cute。 I enjoyed the story of the girls growing up and becoming their own people。

I'll be interested in seeing how this series holds up。 My first reaction is what it was back in the day - that Jessica is awful, and her friends are even worse, and the book's reaction to them doesn't feel modern。 Trying to update these stories to today is a bit fraught。 It'll be interesting if it's as popular as the much kinder, insanely popular Babysitters Club - obviously that's the publisher's hope。 It's frankly surprising it took this long to get a SV Twins series started! Cute but I would much rather have a sweet valley high or sweet valley university graphic novel instead

Looking back now and while reading this, Jessica is just so awful。

New adaptation of the twins in 6th grade! The art is super super cute, and the story has been updated a bit but mostly stands。 Jessica is a terrible terrible person, but honestly Elizabeth isn't perfect either。 I think kids will enjoy it all over again。 New adaptation of the twins in 6th grade! A trip down memory lane! Stepping back into my childhood with this one! Did they stop the older graphic novels after only one though?

This was a nostalgic read for me。 I grew up with the Sweet Valley twins and - being a twin - always appreciated their distinctly different personalities。 This graphic novel hit on that - and the storyline is one that I recall reading about way back when。 The one thing I didn’t love about this graphic novel was that at times it was difficult to differentiate between Elizabeth and Jessica。 The other drawback with this graphic novel is that the sweet valley twins books are really hard to find; a lo This was a nostalgic read for me。 I grew up with the Sweet Valley twins and - being a twin - always appreciated their distinctly different personalities。 This graphic novel hit on that - and the storyline is one that I recall reading about way back when。 The one thing I didn’t love about this graphic novel was that at times it was difficult to differentiate between Elizabeth and Jessica。 The other drawback with this graphic novel is that the sweet valley twins books are really hard to find; a lot of times at my bookstore gig, parents want their youngster to read novels instead of graphic novels and it’s great to be able to reassure them that in some cases there is a book series that their kiddo could dive into if they really like the graphic novels。 The artwork was great; I’d recommend this to young readers。 。。。more

I was so excited to see Sweet Valley is getting modernized as a graphic novel。 I loved the twins growing up。 While I wanted to hang with Jessica and the cool girls, I know I’d probably fit in more with Elizabeth。 What I liked: The nostalgia is real for me with this one。 While I was always more of a SVH/SVU fan, I read a few twins books growing up。 The story has been modernized some, like the girls having a cellphone。 The storyline the girls trying to find and come to terms with separate/new inte I was so excited to see Sweet Valley is getting modernized as a graphic novel。 I loved the twins growing up。 While I wanted to hang with Jessica and the cool girls, I know I’d probably fit in more with Elizabeth。 What I liked: The nostalgia is real for me with this one。 While I was always more of a SVH/SVU fan, I read a few twins books growing up。 The story has been modernized some, like the girls having a cellphone。 The storyline the girls trying to find and come to terms with separate/new interest is a good lesson for tweens。 What didn’t work for me: Reading this as an adult parts of the storyline bothered me:* Jessica and the Unicorn Club aren’t really punished for their treatment of Lois。 * Mrs。 Wakefield (or the school) isn’t concerned that the main thing the Unicorn Club does is gossip and talk about boys。 Not to mention the “pledging” girls have to do to join。 I think the overall message of finding your interest could be lost。 * Elizabeth basically dismisses Lois’s feelings about the incident by saying oh there are girls like that everywhere。 About the art: The images to me don’t look Southern California。 It needs a character guide at the beginning (especially for the friends)。 Bruce needs brown hair if we’re true to the source material。 Who should read it: Will I read more of these? Yes。 Would I recommend it for older kids? This pains me a bit but I’d pass unless you want to read together and have conversations about some of the rougher areas of the storyline。 If you’re looking for the nostalgia and want to dip you’re toe into graphic novels, The Babysitter’s Club has done a better job modernizing and dealing with difficult topics。 。。。more

Ah, good ol' nostalgia。I LOVED the Sweet Valley High series when I was younger。 Jessica and Elizabeth seemed so cool and mature and I couldn't wait to get my hands on every volume that my local library had。I wasn't quite as into the Sweet Valley Twins spinoff--where the characters were in middle school--but this graphic novel adaptation is pretty amazing。 The illustrations are fantastic, and the twins are given enough personality that it's not too hard (after a few pages, anyway) to tell them ap Ah, good ol' nostalgia。I LOVED the Sweet Valley High series when I was younger。 Jessica and Elizabeth seemed so cool and mature and I couldn't wait to get my hands on every volume that my local library had。I wasn't quite as into the Sweet Valley Twins spinoff--where the characters were in middle school--but this graphic novel adaptation is pretty amazing。 The illustrations are fantastic, and the twins are given enough personality that it's not too hard (after a few pages, anyway) to tell them apart。 Lots of good middle grade content: sibling conflict, changing friendships, mean girls, etc。My students are going to absolutely love this。 。。。more

That was adorable and fun trip down memory lane。 Enjoyed the small ways it was brought up to the times but retained most of the original storyline and details, like milkshakes at the Dairy Burger and the haunted house on their street。 One release per year kinda sucks though。 Here’s hoping they do one if the Super Chillers!

In case anyone was wondering, Jessica Wakefield is still the actual worst

A familiar storyline - hello youth! Did I hate Jess as much as I hate her now? Was she really this horrible? Yikes! This is probably the first updated Sweet Valley book that manages to capture the allure of the series while still tweaking it enough to appeal to a new audience。 Sweet Valley has tried and failed spectacularly before but I think they finally got it right this time。This isn't to say there aren't things that might vex readers, be they new to the Valley or us old timers checking in for a nostalgia fix。 It's very difficult to keep up with the other characters aside from the Wakefield family。 Amy Sut This is probably the first updated Sweet Valley book that manages to capture the allure of the series while still tweaking it enough to appeal to a new audience。 Sweet Valley has tried and failed spectacularly before but I think they finally got it right this time。This isn't to say there aren't things that might vex readers, be they new to the Valley or us old timers checking in for a nostalgia fix。 It's very difficult to keep up with the other characters aside from the Wakefield family。 Amy Sutton is probably the easiest but she's also pretty much the only one properly introduced on page aside from poor Lois。 Lila sort of is, but the coloring is weird and Janet is only inferred by the end。 I assume the blonde with short hair is Ellen but I don't know for sure。 It would have been so easy to just introduce them, either on page or have a quick guide at the start or end of the book。Personal preference here, but I hate the change to Bruce Patman。 Bruce Patman is not blond, he's not brown eyed, and his calling the twins Blondie when he's also blond is extra stupid now。 Story wise, this is a well done adaptation of the Best Friends book, with a set up for Teacher's Pet and maybe even The Haunted House (!) if we're lucky。 The art is pretty cute and I like the subtle ways to tell the twins apart。 Steven is fun in a jerky older brother way, while being cute enough to warrant the girl drama he spends much of his life embroiled in。 While not a huge fan of Alice Wakefield's design, I do appreciate her being a good mom here。 I do wonder what would have happened had Alice not encouraged the girls to pursue their own interests。。。 because that did put Jessica right on track to being the Jessica Wakefield we all know and。。。 well, love isn't the right word here, particularly if Lois is the one being asked。 But you get the idea。 。。。more
